Thought Process

At this point I am currently struggling on where I can go with an idea. We were advised to make our piece on something we are intrested in or passionate about. We have been previously shown and example of work based around stress and anxiety which I really enjoyed and although slightly disturbing it was an all round good piece.

For me mental health is definitely something I would consider creating a piece on because it is very prominent in todays society and I feel it is a topic we can all stay clued up on. But as can be seen on this blog in Week 3 - The sonic enviroment myself and my partner had already worked together on a project about lonliness and desolation which we based around the idea of mental health specifically depression and anxiety so I don't really want to make a piece on the same topic because I am worried it'll be too similar; for the main reason that most of my ideas already surrounding the topic had already gone into that piece.

One topic that does intrigue me although considered quite morbid is the topic of death. What happens after death has always been something that intrigues me greatly and has never been confirmed so this could be a simple thing to be able to create something incredibly experimental. Following this idea I might try and create a short maybe 30 second piece on the topic just so I can see where I could potentially go with it but I will still continue to think of other ideas so I am not just stuck with one.

Another thing that I think has potential is the idea behind real life crime. As horror is my favourite genre in most mediums this could be a good pathway to go down. I might mix in real life crime with cliche horror movie sounds, such as a music box or a child laughing which are not things often associated with real life crime; but as written before I will continue to expand on all of these.

Death example

As stated in another blog post I wanted to make a quick piece around the theme of death to test where I could potentially go with my work. I created a short piece only 52 seconds long with only a few sounds fitted together to see how experimental I could possibly make it. I think it turned out ok. Obviously, if I was to take this further within my final piece I would make it longer to fit the time restraints of the assessment and also use many more sounds and plan my piece in greater detail. Final piece ideas 2.0

I've been thinking about what sounds I may need for my audio piece and have put together a list of said sounds so that during the creation of my piece I am able to follow the list of sounds making it easier for myself to put the piece together in a faster more reliable fashion. I will list below some sounds that I am considering using in my piece. Charles Manson - I'm nobody quote "Guilty" judge sentencing Who's affected Why they're affected Disapperances New Reports 911 Calls "Why did you do it?" "Who are you?" Ambience Children laughing I think the main part here for me to pay attention to and to remember is the Who are you?. Week 5

Week 5 we looked into potential ideas for our final audio pieces. We looked into ideas that we should apply into out final ideas. In our soundscapes, we want to unfold a plot just as they do in films, any changes made to our audio is considered a change of state and is called modulation which is the change of one state of being to another. Looking at what could be considered bipolar sounds are sounds that are the polar opposite of one another. Examples of bipolar sounds include: Close/Open Rough/Smooth Empty/Full Near/Far Dry/Wet We also considered the 8 point story arc which could be useful to our pieces of audio but isn't necessarily something we have to follow, it may, however, help us to build a narrative to follow so it will flow better. 8 point story arc 1.
